Photo dimensions
- Size: 35 mm × 45 mm (width × height).
- Head height: between 32 mm and 36 mm from chin to top of head.
- Resolution: minimum 600 × 750 pixels for digital uploads.
- File format: JPEG, file size under 1 MB.
Background & lighting
- Plain white or off-white background, no patterns or shadows.
- Even lighting on the face — no harsh shadows behind the head.
- Photo must be in sharp focus and full colour, not black and white.
- No reflections or glare on the face or glasses.
Pose & expression
- Face the camera directly with shoulders square.
- Neutral expression with mouth closed.
- Both eyes open and clearly visible, looking straight at the camera.
- Hair must not cover the face, eyes or eyebrows.
Glasses, head coverings & accessories
- Glasses are not permitted unless medically required, and frames must not cover the eyes.
- Head coverings worn for religious reasons are allowed but must not obscure facial features from forehead to chin.
- Avoid hats, headphones, hair accessories or anything that hides the face.
Photos that do not meet these standards will be rejected and may delay your passport issuance.
Photos for infants & children
- Child should be alone in the photo with no toys, hands or other people visible.
- Mouth should be closed and eyes open if possible.
- Background must remain plain white, even for infants.
