Marriage Visa

A Marriage Visa is issued to foreign nationals legally married to Maldivian citizens. It permits the spouse to reside in the Maldives for an extended period, subject to verification of the marriage and supporting documentation.

Eligibility

  • Applicant must be legally married to a Maldivian citizen with a marriage registered at the Family Court of the Maldives or recognised by Maldivian law.
  • Both spouses must be present in the Maldives at the time of submission, or the Maldivian spouse must initiate the application on behalf of the applicant.
  • Applicant must hold a passport with a minimum validity of six (6) months.

How to Apply

  1. 01Log in to the IMUGA portal using the Maldivian spouse's eFaas account.
  2. 02Select the Marriage Visa service.
  3. 03Complete the application with personal, marital, and travel details.
  4. 04Upload the supporting documents listed below.
  5. 05Submit the application and pay the applicable fee.
  6. 06Collect the visa endorsement from Maldives Immigration upon approval.

Documents Required

  • Original marriage certificate issued or attested by the Family Court of the Maldives.
  • Maldivian spouse's national ID card (both sides).
  • Applicant's passport biodata page (clear colour copy).
  • Recent passport-size photograph meeting Maldives Immigration photo standards.
  • Recent utility bill or proof of joint residential address.

Validity & Renewal

  • Initial Marriage Visa is generally issued for one (1) year.
  • May be renewed annually upon submission of an updated application and supporting documents.
  • Visa is automatically void if the marriage is dissolved.

Any change to the marital status must be reported to Maldives Immigration within 14 days.
