Tourist Visa on Arrival

Tourist visa is granted on arrival to the Maldives. Foreigners traveling as tourists do not require pre-approval for the visa, however visitors must satisfy the basic entry requirements to get immigration clearance upon arrival.

Entry Requirements

  • A passport or travel document with Machine Readable Zone (MRZ) with at least 1 month validity.
  • A complete travel itinerary including confirmed return tickets, prepaid booking at a registered facility, and sufficient funds — or a pre-approved sponsorship visa from Maldives Immigration.
  • Entry requirements to your onward destinations (visa and passport validity, where applicable).
  • All foreigners arriving in the Maldives must complete and submit the Traveller Declaration form via the IMUGA portal up to 96 hours before arrival.
  • Yellow Fever Vaccination Certificate, if applicable. Children under 1 year of age are exempt.

IMUGA Traveller Declaration

  1. 01Visit the IMUGA portal at imuga.immigration.gov.mv.
  2. 02Open the Traveller Declaration form up to 96 hours (4 days) before arrival.
  3. 03Fill in personal details, travel information, and accommodation details.
  4. 04Submit the form electronically — submission is free of charge.
  5. 05Present the completed declaration at immigration upon arrival.

Children/minors must have their own passport to enter the Maldives.

Additional Information

  • Transit travellers heading to another country via the Maldives without clearing arrival immigration follow a separate process.
  • Travellers from Yellow Fever endemic countries should review the latest country list before travel.
  • Effective from 15 April 2025, entry to the Maldives will not be granted on Israeli passports.

Important Notes

  • Tourist visa is granted on arrival — no pre-approval required for genuine tourists.
  • A complete travel itinerary does not guarantee entry. Final admissibility is determined by Immigration officers at the port of entry.
  • Children/minors must travel on their own valid passport.
